April Sarcoidosis Awareness Month 2026 - See Sarcoidosis

Mary Morlino

Mary's 2026 Steps for Sarc

Welcome, and thank you so much for Taking Steps to See Sarcoidosis.

Throughout the month of April, I will be participating in the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research’s (FSR) Taking Steps to See Sarcoidosis initiative. I am taking steps and raising funds for FSR because sarcoidosis has touched my life in ways I never expected. I am hoping that together we can take 1.2 million steps to represent everyone around the world living with sarcoidosis and raise $25,000 to fund the critical research, patient education, and support initiatives taking place at FSR.

Sarcoidosis is a disease that many people have never heard of, yet it affects thousands of individuals and families. It can impact multiple organs and often goes undiagnosed or misunderstood. That’s why the work FSR is doing is so important — they fund research, provide patient support, and push toward better treatments and a cure.

Here is How You Can Help

1. Donate if you’re able — no amount is too small
2. Share this page to help spread awareness
3. Track your steps and join me in this effort and be part of something meaningful

Every bit of support means more than I can put into words. You’re not just donating — you’re helping bring hope, answers, and progress to those living with sarcoidosis.

Thank you for being part of this journey and taking Steps to See Sarcoidosis.

Holy Moly! Thank you so much for your donations! I truly appreciate the support. I've been advocating since I got diagnosed in 2014. It's been amazing to see the progress that has been happening in the medical research space for Sarcoidosis and other rare diseases. I had no idea my life would take me in all the directions it has, but it's interesting to me that something that was so incredibley destructive and disruptive, brought me such a feeling of purpose and intention. I wanted people to not have to go through with what I and so many others have gone through. IMO, we, as a society, have the need, means and capablilty to invest in medical research. We need to work collaboratively for the preservation and improvement for people living with disease and disability. I've learned a lot. Having the opportunity to work at some of the big umbrella nonprofit rare disease and undiagnoesd organizations, it's endlessly heartbreaking knowing we are all not able to get things done effectively and efficiently. Rant over. (for now) Thank you all for your support. I'm going to go get some steps in! (Purple Heart Emoji)

Thanks to all who have engaged, donated and reached out about my 2026 Steps for Sarcoidosis Awareness and Fundraising Campaign. I appreciate your support and encouragement throughout my journey. I updated my steps today and I'm grateful that I have been able to take as many steps as I have this month. There are good days and bad days, which is my normal. Some highlights have been being able to take a very long walk on the beach with 2 amazing lifelong friends, (despite blisters and flip flops which decided to take their ultimate flop and ended up in the the trash)! Some lowlights was having a root canal revision, very unpleasant and slowed me down considerably. My overall goal has been to increase my monthly average every month and I'm happy to say I'm doing okay on that one. I am a lot slower than I used to be, but I'm still moving forward?
