Most people have never heard of Sarcoidosis, a rare and debilitating inflammatory disease that can attack almost any organ in the body, in some cases with fatal results. The Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research (FSR) designated April as SARCOIDOSIS AWARENESS MONTH... a) To create awareness about the disease b) To raise much-needed funds for patient assistance and research and c) Because so few people know anything about Sarcoidosis.
Symptoms and side effects can include: heart failure, lung damage, difficulty breathing, chest pain, severe headaches, joint pain, overwhelming fatigue, painful skin lesions, constant nausea, depression and even death.
There is currently no cure for Sarcoidosis and because it is rare, it receives little funding from government health departments or big pharma. Instead, FSR relies rely heavily on individual supporters like you.
For those who don't know me, my name is Mark Landiak and 12 years ago sarcoidosis attacked my heart nearly taking my life on multiple occasions. The side effects are with me every day, but by the grace of God, nine (9) different meds/day, and what my doctors call a miraculous recovery, I am able to be mostly functional again. I am humbled that a group of fraternity brothers from Penn State University who have remained friends since college, have rallied around me and another brother who was recently stricken with ALS, to take up these two causes up in support of us and all patients with these diseases.
We're calling this the Grateful Lives Campaign because as patients, we are grateful for the gift of every new day - and the people in our lives. At the same time, we hope that you may be blessed with good health and bet that you too, have much to be grateful for in your own life.
So whether you have been invited to support the cause by someone you know, or read about it online, we invite you to get involved with our campaign and help FSR to: raise awareness and funding for more effective treatments, and to support those living with the physical and mental effects of the disease.
As a supporter, you'll receive notifications and invitations to special Supporter Zoom calls to keep you abreast of how your donations are helping improve the lives of the more than 200,000 sarcoidosis patients and their families in the USA.
On behalf of FSR, and all those involved in our Grateful Lives Campaign, thank you for your consideration and generosity. ================================================== (*If making a pledge, please click the Facebook and Linked in icons to automatically share this page to your social media pages!
