On behalf of the entire Bartello family, I wanted to let you know how touched we are for your incredibly generous donations. Grandpa Tony would say often — and always made sure he had my attention before he said it — that “whatever the time, no matter the cause, call me - I am there. I’ll pick you up from wherever, no questions asked and get you to where you need to be.” Even in his death Grandpa is here still picking me up, no questions asked, by helping raise awareness and research funds for something that has become my focus these past few months. I received my diagnosis of Neurosarcoidosis in April, after nearly half a year of chasing down the cause of my strange symptoms. The last phone conversation I had with Grandpa Tony was regarding the treatment plans, prognosis, and my long-term goal to get this disease into remission as quickly as possible. As always, he reminded me that this will just another “bump in the road” and that we will focus on working to get “a little bit better every day”. Grandpa Tony had a warrior‘s spirit, always drawing on the power of prayer, love and support of family in difficult times. As I have throughout my entire life, I will continue to turn to him as the cornerstone of my inspiration, determination and source of calm in the eye of this storm. Through your support, I feel Grandpa’s love shining down on me already. Your kindness and generosity to this cause will help make my world — this world — a better place, which is exactly what he would have wanted. Let’s keep making Grandpa Tony proud.
