My mother transitioned on September 18, 2025, at age 87. She was diagnosed with sarcoidosis in her early thirties and was prescribed cortisone for 12 years; she never saw a pulmonary specialist and her medications were managed by her primary physician. After losing use of her legs due to muscle weakness, she became wheelchair-dependent. She was the strongest woman I know — fiercely independent, she raised five children as a single parent and later worked as a dietitian before retiring as her health declined. She lived alone until a recent fall at home led to hospitalization; she transitioned six weeks later. Gail Helen Howard will forever live in our hearts. 💔💜
