Mary's 5th FSR Anniversary!
Please join us in expressing our congratulations and gratitude to FSR’s President and CEO, Mary McGowan, for five years of driving progress and support for all impacted by sarcoidosis.
The organization has thrived under Mary’s leadership, making it possible for us to conduct more research, reach more patients, and drive critical legislative changes. Mary has cleared the path for a brighter future for all impacted by sarcoidosis.
Below are just a few highlights of FSR’s successes under Mary’s leadership from the last five years:
-FSR launched the first of its kind collaboration between patients and clinicians to improve clinical outcomes and ensure all patients have the education and support they need through the FSR Global Sarcoidosis Clinic Alliance (FSR-GSCA), which now includes 45 institutions, 800 clinicians, and countless patients reached and supported.
-FSR helped secure the inclusion of sarcoidosis in the PACT ACT helping veterans with sarcoidosis get the support they need.
-FSR provided over $2 million dollars in funding to 24 researchers resulting in critical research findings helping us to improve care, launch new clinical and research careers through our fellowship support, and create pathways for significant follow-on funding that will no doubt lead to groundbreaking learnings and advance our understanding of sarcoidosis.
-FSR held a Patient Listening Session and Externally-Led Patient Focused Drug Development with the FDA to ensure that patient priorities remain at the center of all drug development.
-FSR secured its largest gift from a major donor ever, making it possible for FSR to increase research funding and build a clinician data input registry that will increase our understanding of the disease and potentially allow us to create personalized medicinal strategies based on each individual’s journey.
-FSR hosted 4 virtual patient summits, bringing together world-renowned global experts and thousands of patients and caregivers around the globe.
-FSR conducted a 3-day in-person training of volunteer leaders at the Cleveland Clinic and grew our pool of volunteers to over 100 incredible leaders throughout the US.
-FSR launched the Ignore No More campaign which led to pivotal research in understanding Black patients' barriers to clinical trials, a standing room only Congressional Briefing, the creation of the Coalition to Transform Clinical Trial Engagement, and a landmark clarification from the Department of Labor ensuring that all patients who wish to participate in a clinical trial have their jobs protected under FMLA.
And so much more!
We invite you to share a message with your favorite memory, well-wishes, and/or what gives you hope as result of Mary’s leadership. Please consider making a donation in Mary’s honor and to help us continue to build on this incredible momentum.
Happy Anniversary, Mary! We can’t wait to see what the next 5 years will bring.
