The Family
Hey Everybody! The Family offers you a heartfelt thank you for visiting our team's page.
On Sunday, April 28th in Atlanta, Georgia, our team "The Family" will Kick In to Stop Sarcoidosis (KISS) by taking part in the 5th Annual Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research's 5k Run/Walk. We have chosen to support and raise funds for FSR by walking for a cure in Grant Park as members of Team KISS.
Sarcoidosis is a rare, often chronic inflammatory disorder that causes the formation of granulomas, or microscopic clumps of inflammatory cells. This can occur in almost any organ in the body, most commonly affecting the lungs, lymph nodes, skin and eyes. When too many of these clumps form in an organ they can interfere with how that organ functions. It is estimated to affect 200,000 Americans. The cause of sarcoidosis is currently unknown, and there is currently no known cure for this disease; treatment options are limited and often ineffective.
FSR is the leading nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for this disease and improving care and treatment options for sarcoidosis patients. The funds all go directly to FSR and their programs for improving patient education, supporting patients and their caretakers, and of course, funding research to find better treatment options and one day, a cure.
We would greatly appreciate your support in helping us reach our goal. Together, we can KISS!
PS:
The month of April is National Sarcoidosis Awareness Month. If you feel so inclined, pick a day and join us in rocking a shade of purple.
