Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research's Team Rally for Sarc Fundraising Page

On November 1, 2026, I will join thousands of runners at the New York City Marathon, but my 26.2-mile journey is about much more than crossing a finish line. I am running as a member of Team Rally for Sarc in honor of my mother, my sister, and the countless individuals and families affected by sarcoidosis.

For more than 10 years, I have been a caregiver and advocate for my mother, who lives with pulmonary and neurosarcoidosis. I have witnessed firsthand the physical, emotional, and financial toll this disease can take on individuals and families. I have watched her navigate doctor appointments, hospital stays, treatments, and the uncertainty that comes with living with a rare disease that many people have never heard of.

Sarcoidosis has also profoundly impacted my sister. Her disease has affected her lungs, liver, heart, and lymph nodes, creating challenges that require strength and resilience every day.

What makes our family's story even more unique is that both my mother and sister have dedicated their lives to serving others as hairstylists. My mother is a retired hairstylist, and my sister continues to work in the profession she loves. Through them, I have come to recognize the many members of the hairstylist and beauty community who quietly battle chronic illnesses while continuing to show up for their clients, families, and communities.

I run for my mother. I run for my sister. I run for the hairstylists and beauty professionals whose lives have been impacted by sarcoidosis. And I run for the countless others around the world living with this disease who deserve better treatments, greater awareness, and ultimately a cure.

The Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research is leading the fight to improve the lives of patients through research, education, and support. By supporting my marathon journey, you are helping fund critical work that brings hope to families like mine.

Every mile I run represents a step toward greater awareness. Every donation helps fuel research and patient support. And every person who shares this story helps shine a light on a disease that has remained in the shadows for far too long.

Thank you for supporting me, believing in this cause, and helping move us closer to a future free from sarcoidosis.

With gratitude,

Jas
