Help Me Rally for Sarc!

Bryce Walker

Runner Bryce Walker

This year, I will be supporting Team Rally for Sarc runners who have been selected to represent the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research (FSR) at the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon on November 2nd, 2025!

In September 2024, I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis after experiencing symptoms beginning in late April. Since then, running and endurance sports have become more than hobbies—they are now my medicine, my therapy, and my defiance against this disease. I’ve found that movement is the most effective way to manage both my symptoms and the side effects of my medication. Sarcoidosis may effect my daily life, but it will never define who I am or what I can achieve.

Joining Team Rally for Sarc in New York is about running for a reason far greater than myself. It’s about standing up for the entire sarcoidosis community—raising awareness, funding research, and showing what’s possible when we push beyond perceived limits. Sarcoidosis impacts everyone differently -- mine primarily affecting my eyes and kidneys. I feel fortunate every day that my lungs and heart remain strong, and I want to use that gift to run on behalf of those who can’t.

FSR is the leading international organization dedicated to finding a cure for sarcoidosis and improving care for sarcoidosis patients through research, education, and support. Since its establishment in 2000, FSR has fostered over $8 million in sarcoidosis-specific research efforts.

Sarcoidosis impacts approximately 1.2 million people worldwide and 200,000 in the U.S. People living with sarcoidosis wake up each day and face the challenges of living with a rare disease including the symptoms and side effects like overwhelming fatigue, trouble breathing, chest pain, headaches, joint pain, skin lesions and rashes, an overall feeling of sickness, along with other physical and mental symptoms that patients experience living with sarcoidosis. Currently, there is no known cause and limited treatment options.

I hope you will consider supporting Team Rally for Sarc this year by making a financial contribution to my page as I seek to support FSR and all those impacted by sarcoidosis. Your donation, of any amount, will not only help Team Rally for Sarc achieve their goals, but will help make more patient support, and one day, a cure for sarcoidosis possible. Each stride and donation are a step closer to a future where sarcoidosis is better understood, more effectively treated, and ultimately cured.

Thank you so much!

Bryce
